Sintered Chromium Oxide Green Physicochemical Properties

CAS Number: 1308 - 38 - 9.
Physical Properties: It is a dark green hexagonal or trigonal crystal with a metallic luster. The density is 5.21 g/cm³, the melting point is 2266 °C, and the boiling point is 4000 °C. It is insoluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in acids, soluble in sulfuric acid to form purple chromium sulfate, and soluble in strong alkalis to form dark green chromites. It is also soluble in hot alkali metal bromate solutions.
Chemical Properties: Chemically stable, it is extremely stable to light, moisture, high temperature, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide. It has semiconductor properties and is antiferromagnetic below 35 °C. When fused with divalent metal oxides, it can form chromites. It has a high covering power.

Particle Size: The particle size of sintered chromium oxide green can vary depending on the production process and application requirements. Generally, the median particle size is in the range of 1 - 3 microns. Some products may have average particle sizes of about 1 μm, 2 μm, or 4 μm. There are also products with particle sizes as small as 700 nm. In addition, the particle size can be further adjusted according to specific customer needs, such as being made coarser or finer. For example, in some applications requiring coarser particles, the particle size may be in the range of 5 - 10 microns; while in applications requiring very fine particles, the particle size may be less than 1 micron.
Hardness: The Mohs hardness of sintered chromium oxide green is 8.0 - 8.5. It is a relatively hard material, which is beneficial for applications requiring high hardness, such as grinding and polishing. In the process of grinding and polishing, it can effectively scratch the surface of the material to be processed, thereby improving the surface finish. Moreover, due to its high hardness, sintered chromium oxide green can maintain good wear resistance and mechanical stability during use, and is not easily worn or deformed.
Density: The density of sintered chromium oxide green is 5.21 - 5.22 g/cm³.
